Besides being informative, video training should be three things: fast, engaging and useful. It also must respect the unique needs of adult learners, namely that they:

-
are self-directed
-
use their life experiences to contextualize their learning
-
see learning as purpose-driven (I'm here to solve a problem)
-
want to have agency in the learning process

A good training video immediately engages the viewer and makes her want to keep watching.

A great training video makes the learner think: "Perfect -- this video was made just for me and is going to immediately help me achieve what I want to accomplish."

Video Training
As an E-Learning and training professional, I've produced hundreds of videos ranging from 30-second product overviews to multi-hour training seminars, conferences and live broadcasts.

The videos below showcase two styles of my work. The Sony videos are product marketing focused, while the UC San Diego Health videos are components of a large, four-part E-Learning series designed to teach communication in healthcare.
